Please be informed that Cabinet by Conclusion No.880 of 2024 approved the granting of concessions on barrels imported at Christmas, in accordance with the following terms and conditions:
1. 100% waiver of Import Duty on personal items, food, clothing, toys and other household consumables, contained in barrels imported during the period November 01, 2024 to February 28, 2025. Electronic items are explicitly excluded;
2. The number of barrels that would qualify for the concessions would be limited to two (2) per household;
3. There would be an upper limit of EC $3000.00 per barrel on the value of items qualifying for the concessions;
4. The items identified in Clause No. (1) must be for personal use only and not for commercial use; and
5. The usual penalties, fines, etc. would be applied if the goods are used for commercial purposes.
Also note that Parliament has approved the exemption of Value Added TAX (VAT) and the Health and Citizen Security levy (HSL) on barrels imported during the same period November 1st 2024 to February 28th 2025. The Statutory Instrument that gives effect to this shall be published when it becomes available.
Kindly note that items that qualify for this concession will attract Customs Service Charge at the rate of 6%.
Barrels will not be delivered if these guidelines are not met.

Please be informed that effective immediately, the system will be configured to require the upload of relevant certificates of origin for goods imported under a trade agreement, including the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

The Customs and Excise Department wishes to inform the public that Shed 6 on the Castries Port will be closed from 1 :00pm- 2:30pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024. This temporary closure is to allow our staff to attend a very important engagement.
Please note that normal operations will resume at
2:30pm. However, there is extended operating hours from 4:30pm - 6:00 pm.

In our continuing efforts at streamlining our processes and enhancing the delivery of service to our stakeholders, the Customs Department has introduced an online help desk portal for ASYCUDA-related support. You are encouraged to use this facility to submit your requests to the ASYCUDA Functional Support team by visiting the Department's website at https://www.customs.gov.lc. From the homepage, click on the link labeled 'ASYCUDA Help Desk' which takes you to the help desk portal. From there, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the 'Submit a ticket' button. Complete all fields on the form and click on the 'Submit' button to submit your request. You also have the option to upload supporting documents by clicking on the 'Attach a file' link.
